East Midland Drum Tuition Newsletter
It has been a very productive year here at East Midlands Drum Tuition and we have continued to grow and develop as a business. Always working to deliver the best tuition we can with the student at the centre of their own learning. I can’t thank you all enough for choosing East Midlands Drum Tuition for your drum, guitar and bass tuition.
Long Whatton School
Students at Long Whatton have been doing so well with their drum lessons. It’s been an absolute pleasure working with students this year. Lots of students developing their drumming skills and learning to play to their favourite tracks. A special mention to Billy who is in Year 5 and is looking to take his grade 6 Rockschool exam in January and Ruby also in Year 5 taking her Grade 5. At such a young age this is a remarkable achievement for both of you. A very well done.
Dexter started teaching Guitar students in November and the feedback has been fantastic. I am so pleased we are able to offer guitar tuition at Long Whatton and look forward to seeing the students progress next year.
Normanton On Soar Primary School
It has been so amazing to see the energy the students bring to their drum lessons. 18 students having drum lessons in a small primary school like Norrmanton is more than I could possibly imagine. Each week I am greeted with such smiles and enthusiasm ready for ‘drumming’. Lots of students are now playing full songs and able to play a selection of drumming rudiments. I set up a Google Classroom to put on weekly challenges. I might look to introduce a practice diary so you can all see what students are learning. I’d really like to have some performances next year so maybe a collaboration with the guitar students. I absolutely love turning up on a Friday to teach at Normanton. It’s great to see so many students now having drum kits at home and a few getting kits from santa. Star drummer certificates will be going out again in January.
It was lovely to see Dexter start teaching guitar and ukulele at Normanton. The feedback has been really positive and I am hoping more students will want lessons in the future. It’s lovely to see students smiling away and strumming to Seven Nation Army. I also caught a bit of Feliz Navidad last week.
Jay
Jay has continued to deliver such amazing lessons at EMDT and his enthusiasm and commitment to his students is fantastic. The parent and student feedback for Jay’s lessons is always so positive. His Saturday teaching timetable is completely full and I’m trying to persuade Jay to teach on Thursdays as well in the new studio. I’m extremely grateful to have found Jay and respect the fact he travels from Stoke each Saturday to teach his students. Thank you so much Jay for such a great year. Looking forward to seeing how your students progress in 2025
James
James joined us in July and has gone from strength to strength with his teaching. With his tech background he quickly got to work with Google Classrooms and made sure each of his students had a Google Classroom and used these as a way to communicate with students. He made so many electronic resources for students to use and the care and attention towards his preparation for lessons and making sure his students are getting what they want and need in a lesson is fantastic. A special mention to Bex who is flying through her grades each one achieving a distinction.
Dexter
Dexter joined us in September and quickly built up a nice timetable teaching adults and children the bass and guitar. Dexter was keen to use his teaching experience in school and I was delighted when an opportunity came about for Dexter to teach at Long Whatton and Normanton. Dexter has a lovely relaxed way of teaching and bringing out the best in his students. Im excited to see Dexter’s students develop in 2025. Some students will be taking exams and also working towards GCSE compositions.
Niall
Niall also joined us in September as I was looking for a tutor to teach on Sunday’s. I was delighted to find Niall and he has quickly become a valued member of the team. Niall’s students love seeing him for their Sunday lessons and the feedback from parents has been very positive. Thank you for agreeing to work on Sunday’s Niall and I’m so glad you have built up a nice timetable of students.
Mark
Mark joined EMDT in July and quickly became the guitar teacher who would deliver excellent online lessons. Mark’s experience with online lessons was so important and he has delivered some fantastic lessons online. A special mention to James and Charlie who are both flourishing under Mark’s tuition.
Charity Work
I have continued to work with Fusion Scape, Active Respite and The Amber Trust. It has been an absolute privilege to work with such amazing charities and I am very much looking forward to working with you all again in 2025.
The New Studio 2.0
I’m so happy to share that we are expanding and opening a new studio in Sutton Bonington. This will be located at Hungry Lane Farm. This will give us the opportunity to offer many more drum, guitar and bass lessons to the community and surrounding areas. I’m really excited to have this space ready for the middle of January 2025. The opening hours will be Monday to Friday 9am -9pm Saturday 9am - 4pm and Sunday 9am - 4pm. There is lots of flexibility at the moment and I will be looking to start filling slots for this new space in January.
